The bi-annual clothing exchange is Saturday. Oct. 2 at First United Lutheran Church, 6202 East Mockingbird from noon-5 p.m.
As teenagers, my friends and I loved trading clothes because it meant wearing something different without having to buy something new. This is like a large-scale version of that. Here’s the deal: bring a bag(s) of gently worn, clean clothing (any type) and take a bag(s) of clothing from other people’s contributions. If you don’t have anything to contribute, but still need clothes, just make a small donation and help yourself. Anyone who needs clothes will not be turned away, organizers say.
In years past the clothing exchange has been held at the old Munger Place United Methodist Church, which is now a satellite church for the Highland Park UMC. The event is in its fourth year. Last year about 1,800 people participated. Please bring your donations early if possible — Friday evening or Saturday before the doors open.
