Chacon Autos won a community service award at a national convention earlier this year, and the dealership’s prize was a $5,000 donation to the cause of their choice.

Chacon is donating the money to Martha Turner Reilly Elementary School and will present the check in an assembly there Monday.

The elementary school has become a pet cause for the family-owned dealership’s employees. Several employees tutor Reilly students. They volunteer at the school’s field day, and they sponsored a 5k run fundraiser for the school.

Stephani Musick of Chacon says they met one Reilly first-grade student who couldn’t read and needed to repeat the first grade. But teachers feared he would still be behind and struggling because he missed most of kindergarten. So Chacon paid a Reilly teacher to tutor him three times a week all summer in the conference room of their East Northwest Highway dealership.

Chacon first reached out to Reilly after receiving employee feedback that they wanted to do charity events with kids.

“We’ve really enjoyed it,” Musick says.
