The French phrase “carte blanche” translates literally to “blank document” or “blank paper.” In English, it’s often used to refer to full discretionary power. And in Lowest Greenville, it’s a fine dining restaurant.

Carte Blanche, which opened this month, is owned by Casey and Amy LaRue, a husband-wife duo who have worked at fine-dining establishments across the U.S. It serves fine cuisine in the evenings, and in the mornings, it sells baked goods.

At the restaurant, guests can choose either the 12-course tasting menu for $150 per person or the four-course menu for $75 per person. The LaRues are not serving beef. Instead, they’re choosing meats such as wild boar.

That ingredient is even used to make boar bombs, one of the most popular items sold in the morning. Right now, Care Blanche is selling a bear bomb wrapped in a pretzel with cheese. Customers have also been eating up the crullers, which are a kind of French doughnut.

Each breakfast item is made fresh daily, and the bakers aim to use ingredients that are in season. Parts of the menu may change daily or weekly. For example, last week, the boar was served in a kolache. Beverage options including milk, tea and coffee are expected to be available as early as this week.

Carte Blanche is located at 2114 Greenville Ave. It is open for breakfast 7 a.m. to noon Wednesday-Sunday. Dinner is served 5-9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Reservations can be made on Tock, and the restaurant can be reached at 214-434-1538.Â
