This week potential patrons were greeted by a sign in front of the building announcing that the long-standing breakfast and lunch location has closed.

The sign directs those looking for their coffee fix to go to the Cafe Brazil in University Park, “just four minutes away.”

Cafe Brazil still has locations in Addison, Bishop Arts, Carrollton, Cedar Springs, Deep Ellum, Denton, Richardson, University Park, Fort Worth and Plano.

Cafe Brazil first opened in Lakewood in 1991. Just two years later the neighborhood favorite expanded to a new location. The Advocate covered the cafe’s expansion back in 1993.

Cafe Brazil has not responded to The Advocate’s attempts for comment.
