DPD’s VIP program helps keep city streets safe.

Crime can be devastating to victims and their families, but it’s also tough on the surrounding community. The Dallas Police Department has several volunteer programs designed to keep neighbors engaged in active prevention and patrol. They’ll host training this Saturday for VIP — Volunteers In Patrol — a group which contributes a couple of hours per month to keep our streets safe.

Participants must fill out the appropriate forms, downloadable here, and they are due today. The four-hour class will be held Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lochwood Branch Library, 11221 Lochwood Blvd.
