The Balcony Club nearly closed this year, but owner Tommy Stanco has hung on long enough to see the place celebrate 24 years in business. A former bartender of the club, Stanco is celebrating his 20th anniversary as its owner. He and partner Jo Barr bought it on Dec. 15, 1991.
The jazz club, adjacent to the Lakewood Theater, celebrates both anniversaries starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Glennda Hill and the Balcony Club All Start will perform. And Stanco is fixing his “almost famous” barbecue, free for customers.
