Each year, the Arboretum transitions to fall attractions and programming in late September as part of Autumn at the Arboretum. The festival was named one of the top autumn festivals in the U.S. last fall. One of the most visible signs of the change each year comes with the arrival of the customary pumpkin village in the Pecan Grove, which will take on a decidedly Latin flavor this year.

This year’s theme for Autumn at the Arboretum, ¡Mundo México!, pays homage to Mexican culture with sculptures, events and 110,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash from seven different Mexican regions. Along with the pumpkin village, seven statues from Oaxacan art duo Jacobo and María Ángeles will liven up the grounds.

The Arboretum will also offer an array of events in addition to the planned attractions. Children can trick-or-treat at the pumpkin village on Oct. 24 at Goblins in the Garden, while adults can sip and stroll on select weeknights with pumpkins and pints nights

Last weekend, the Arboretum celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with its annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration.

Autumn at the Arboretum runs through Nov. 2 this year.
