Bad news for local businesses. Artizone.com, the sort-of online farmers market created by Lakewood neighbor Amber Dietrich, is closing its virtual doors.

For five years Artizone teamed up with local vendors (often the same vendors that you’ll see at Good Local Markets), to deliver products straight to your door. They also sold things the farmers market doesn’t offer, like meat from a local butcher shop or fresh fish.

We interviewed Dietrich back in 2014, and at the time she expressed her challenge with branding.

“People don’t know we’re out there, or they don’t get it — how [Artizone] actually affects 100 local companies, or how convenient it is in the sense that you could get a homemade chicken pot pie delivered to the house,” she explained in 2014.

Now if you go to the website, it redirects you to page titled “saying goodbye,” in which she announces the closure.

“It is with great sorrow that we let you know we have decided to shut down artizone.com,” the post states. “It was a wonderful journey, and while we learned a lot from it — it has come to its end.”
