The seventh-annual Newellian Easter Parade is at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 8. The neighbors of Newell Avenue already are preparing for their big day. I happened to pass by Liz Simmons’ house Saturday, as neighbors were coming by to rent their bunnies to promote the parade. They pay $50 to rent the bunnies, and that pays for most of the parade expenses, including an Easter egg hunt and party for neighbors.

Simmons cut out all the plywood bunnies, and neighborhood kids have helped her paint them over the years.
