While it may not be the Big Easy, Dallas is known for its big and brassy Mardi Gras celebrations, especially Greenville Avenue. So if you’re in need of a Hurricane or set of beads to celebrate Fat Tuesday, our neighborhood has you covered.
Sundown at the Granada will feel a bit more like Louisiana today, with live music from Cajun band Club Wood at 5:30 p.m. before Woolly Jammeth brings its psychedelic sound at 10 p.m. Chef Jason West, a native of Louisiana himself, will be cooking up fresh jambalaya and Hurricanes for $3 each. There is no cover to attend and doors open at 4 p.m. Get more details here.
504 Bar and Grill on Greenville is marking Mardi Gras with beads, drink specials and live music all day, from 1 p.m.-close.
Tables will be festooned with beads and masks at Victor Tango’s, where a full Mardi Gras menu will be served all night starting at 5 p.m. Expect gumbo, King Cake and, of course, Hurricanes.
Henderson Tap House is celebrating the holiday with a classic crawfish boil and 64-ounce fish bowls of Hurricanes and other adult beverages. There will be karaoke backed by a live band from 7-10 p.m., followed by DJ Rocko from 10 p.m.-close. Reserve your beads and table here.
If you’re desperate for a true Mardi Gras parade, you don’t have to stray too far from East Dallas. The March of Deep Ellum steps off from The Free Man Cajun Café, 2626 Commerce, at 6 p.m. and loops the neighborhood before heading back to the bar for a night of live music. Hear the Free Loaders at 7 p.m. followed by the Big A** Brass Band at 10 p.m. There is no cover.
