Who would have thought we’d get this far when we started this experiment at the beginning of 2007? We passed 100,000 visitors yesterday — or, in other words, someone from every home that gets the magazine in Lakewood and East Dallas has visited four times in the past 15 or 16 months. (Though the actual percentages probably work out a bit differently.)

And I would be remiss in not mentioning that one of our volunteer bloggers, Norm Alston, has been honored by Preservation Dallas with a big deal award. A Landmark commission committee that Norm sits on won the group’s Preservation Stewardship Award.

Norm is so modest that he ran the press release verbatim on his web site. In fact, he has nothing to be modest about. Historic preservation is an uphill battle in this city, and Norm, along with the others on the committee (including several from around here), has been fighting the good fight for a good while. That link on the sidebar is Norm’s handiwork. My question: Does Norm have to wear a tux when he attends the dinner — and can we run a picture?

The neighborhood scored in a couple of other places on the Preservation Dallas awards list. Homes at 4807 Swiss and 6676 Lakewood Boulevard were honored for their contributions.
