We had a lively discussion here a couple of weeks ago concerning DISD’s proposed end to its longstanding requirement to have top administrators live withn the district’s attendance boundaries. My thought was that although the policy might cost us a few good men and women, overall it makes those of us invested in the district with our children, as well as our tax dollars, sleep a little easier at night knowing that the people making the decisions can see first-hand what’s going on around here 24 hours a day. Not everyone who responded agreed, but hey: That’s what we’re here for, to throw ideas out there and see what you think. Anyway, Friday’s Morning News carried the story that DISD’s board voted to maintain the residency policy essentially as-is, requiring about 45 top DISD employees to live in Dallas or face termination. The board’s decision paralleled the results of our recent poll, which came out 79% in favor of the policy.
