The North Texas Food Bank is teaming up with Dallas College to fight food insecurity in response to the continued government shutdown. More than 3.5 million Texans face a potential loss or suspension of the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for November. About half of those affected are children.

Campus-based food pantries are a key service provided to Dallas College students, helping to remove barriers to academic success. On Community Pantry Days and Drive-Thru Pantry Days, campuses extend support to surrounding communities. Boxes containing fresh produce, milk and pantry staples are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dallas College has added an extra Community Pantry Day this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its Mountain View and Pleasant View locations. Visitors may access community pantries at the site most convenient to them each Friday. Eastfield’s pantry is in B Building, Room B1702. Details may be found here.

Pantry Days are open to the public, and no ID or registration is required.
