Yesterday, Jan. 7, Dallas police officers responded to multiple calls regarding a man waving a gun at cars passing by in the 11000 block of Joaquin Drive, around 3:20 p.m.

A preliminary investigation determined that when the officers arrived, two of them gave verbal commands to the suspect, who then pointed the gun at the officers. Officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect. 

First aid was performed on the suspect until Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) arrived. DFR transported the suspect to a local hospital. The suspect was in critical but stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s office was notified and responded to the scene and will conduct their own investigation. 

The Office of Community Police Oversight was notified and responded to the scene.
