Happy holidays to you all!  I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday break with your friends and family. Below, you can find what the Dallas ISD Board has been up to this month.

Dallas ISD District 2 Monthly Updates:

Breaking Records
As noted in Superintendent Elizalde’s monthly report, Dallas ISD has set a record with a high number of teacher applications in the last nine months. Kudos to the district team for their efforts in attracting and retaining top talent to support our students.

College, Career, and Military Ready: A decade ago, less than 8% of Dallas ISD seniors earned an associate or bachelor’s degree within six years after graduation. Today, over 11% of Dallas ISD graduates earn an associate’s degree before high school graduation. The district continues significant strides in students earning college-based (level 1 and 2) credentials, with 69% of Early College pathway graduates earning an associate degree (60 credit hours) by graduation.

Dallas ISD Annual Comprehensive Financial Report: Dallas ISD’s 2023-2024 financial report is final, showing a strong financial position. The audit revealed zero findings, and the district received a ‘superior’ rating from TEA on the FIRST Financial Rating. With a fund balance of approximately $750 million, the district remains in excellent financial health, even after accounting for a one year deficit budget of approximately $187 million.

Dallas ISD Bond Construction Update: Campus upgrades funded by the 2020 Bond continue across the district. Thank you to the families who joined us at the dedication ceremony for the new Geneva Heights Elementary School building on Dec. 14. Serving nearly 400 students, the campus reflects the district’s commitment to innovation and improved learning environments.

This month, dedications were also held for George Peabody, John Quincy Adams, and Everette L. DeGolyer elementary schools. Throughout the school year, five more school updates will be celebrated, with nine more planned for next year. For more details, visit the Bond 2020 dashboard.

As always, please reach out to me if you have thoughts, ideas, questions, concerns, or simply want to say hello!

Best,

Sarah Weinberg
