Ready to get into the Halloween spirit? Catch this dramatic twist to the spooky story we know as “Frankenstein” at The Mix at White Rock Methodist Church (check out our feature on the unique church) any day of the weekend. White Rock Theater Project, filled with local thespians, will put on “Frankenstein’s Monster.” Tickets are $8 and on sale here. The first showing is this Thursday, with performances scheduled through Oct. 22, all at 7 p.m.
Woodrow Wilson High School‘s student performers will bring the classic “Around the World in 80 Days” to life in the Black Box theater at the school. Check out this daring play of love and drama this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The Halloween season hits Lakewood Elementary School this Saturday when Fall Fest comes to the campus from 2-5 p.m. You can expect a full afternoon of family fun with a petting zoo, karaoke, a haunted house, a cakewalk, bounce houses, silly string and more. Wristbands to enter are $10 and available here. All proceeds benefit the school. In addition, the festival is in need of volunteers to ensure all kids have a fun day — if you can lend a hand, click here.
Love peeking inside interesting neighborhood homes? This Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. take a look at the Casa View Cliff May Home Tour. Cliff May, an established mid-century architect, developed these home designs in the mid 1950s and they still stand today. The tour will be at Casa View Oaks and tickets range from $10-$12 and are available here. All proceeds go to Greater Casa View Alliance, a group looking to put money back into the community.
Head over to the Lower Greenville farmer’s market for not only fresh foods but health care products and hardware. In partnership with Promise of Peace, this event will have things to do while shopping such as live music from the Ackermans and other activities. You can find it in the Granada Theatre parking lot this Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This weekend marks your last chance to see “The Rise of the Mexican American Middle Class in Dallas: 1950-Present” at the Latino Cultural Center. The exhibit wraps up this Saturday, but is free to explore, showcasing the history of Mexican Americans.
