The countdown has begun for the 40 Acts of Kindness Challenge kick-off.
40 Acts of Kindness (#40AOK) is a social media campaign created by Beaux Wellborn to challenge individuals to perform 40 acts of kindness, big or small, during 40 days beginning March 1 through April 9.
After each good deed, participants post a picture/description of what they did on social media sites using the hashtag #40AOK in hopes that what they did will inspire others to take action. Then Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts with #40AOK are brought together on the website:Â 40aokchallenge.com.
The event will kick off tomorrow, March 1, in our neighborhood at the Truck Yard, 5624 Sears, with a backpack drive. A group will join together to fill backpacks with necessities – socks, first aid kits, toiletries and water bottles, etc. — and then distribute them to our homeless neighbors. After the distribution, participants will meet back up for food, drinks and sharing.
The backpack stuffing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Distribution will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and drinks and sharing from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. For more, check out the website.
