Two people were fatally shot and one more was injured in Deep Ellum on Wednesday morning, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Police responded to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Elm Street around 1:20 a.m. March 15. When officers arrived, they found that Rickey Gossett, 37, and Danielle Jones, 30, had been shot.

The preliminary investigation determined that Gossett was on the patio of a business when an unknown person came up to him and fired multiple times, hitting the man. One of the rounds went through a window and hit Jones, who was standing inside.

Another man was hit by a bullet fragment and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect ran northbound on Elm Street after the shooting, police said. The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall Black man with a thin build, and he was wearing a black hoodie and a ski mask, police said.

This investigation is ongoing.
