Rising Tides

This self-described “cocktail dive” appears to have opened back in late August on Garland Road next to McRae’s American Bistro & Cocktails. There isn’t an official menu on its website, but according to Instagram, Rising Tides is serving burgers, chicken sandwiches, chilaquiles, tacos and wings, plus cocktails like “police and thieves” with gin, strawberry reduction, celery and citrus.

Rising Tides’ kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5-11 p.m. Brunch is on the weekends until 3 p.m., and karaoke is at 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

“Rising Tides bar is East Dallas’ friendly little spot, created by folks who love good drinks and good times — maybe a little too much,” reads the statement on Rising Tides’ website. “We’ve got some tasty cocktails, a small but mighty food menu (in the works), and plenty of fun stuff like karaoke and more. Whether you’re here to sing your heart out or just kick back with friends, we’re all about good vibes. Come hang out with us — you know, if you’re into that sort of thing.”

Prince St. Pizza

Unlike the previous entry on this list, our neighborhood’s new pizza place hasn’t started serving customers and doesn’t even include a Dallas location on its website. But The Dallas Morning News (and this Instagram post from March) assures us that the New York City-originated chain will open its first Texas store on Henderson Avenue where Fireside Pies was this fall.

Using family recipes, Prince St. Pizza was born in 2012 and now has multiple locations in the country, mostly in California.

“Our recipes have been in the Morano Family for generations and stem from a simple idea, ‘If you can put it on pasta you can put it on pizza,’” reads the Prince St. Pizza website. “Since then, Prince St. has made a name for itself as a premium pizzeria across New York, Miami and California, serving legendary Sicilian ‘SoHo’ Squares and original Neapolitan pizzas with a New York City slice shop experience.”

Bagel Bros at White Rock

Anticipation for this eatery on Garland Road by the Reserve at White Rock Apartments has been accumulating since July.

“We’re firing up the ovens and getting ready to serve you the freshest, tastiest bagels in town with the best service around,” according to an Instagram post from July 31. “From classic favorites to bold new twists, Bagel Bros is bringing the bagel game to White Rock in a whole new way. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast on the go or settling in for a midday bite, we’re here to serve up amazing bagels with a smile every time.”

There doesn’t appear to be a menu yet, but the Instagram feed does feature a photo of what appears to be an egg and bacon breakfast bagel sandwich. The family owned and operated business expects to open later this month or in early October.
