After 20 years on Mockingbird Lane, Wild Birds Unlimited is migrating to a new home on Abrams Road, where it will open in a former dry cleaner.

The new location at 5708 Abrams Road is scheduled to open late this summer in the building that was once Our Cleaner World. The dry cleaner closed in 2019 and pivoted to a pickup and delivery model servicing East Dallas, Lake Highlands and the Park Cities, owner Cheri Flynn said.

“Bottom line, our landlord wanted to sell the property, and it was too late in our career to relocate with a brick-and-mortar location,” she said. “We are retirement age and pivoting to pickup and delivery was a nice part-time job to help service our most loyal community. I’m glad the building is going to be repurposed.”

20Twenty Construction is renovating the 6,500-square-foot building, which will feature a new facade, display windows, outdoor retail space and a new parking lot.

“It is going to look drastically different,” 20Twenty Construction owner Justin Rascher said.

The shop will feature expanded selections of bird seed, bird feeders, birdhouses, bird baths, fountains and outdoor furniture. Shop in store or at a dedicated drive-thru for online orders.

“The hardest part of this move is the wait,” Wild Birds Unlimited owner Ron Mills said. “While our new location will bring new products and excitement, our core belief is still in our personal customer service and expert advice on bird feeding.”
