Let your pups down easy. The reopening of the White Rock Lake Dog Park has been postponed.
The park was scheduled to reopen Monday. The new opening date is May 3.
The park closed March 29 for scheduled maintenance, which takes about three weeks every spring and fall. But community members said grass in the park does not stay in good shape. To fix the problem, the park stayed closed for an extra week to allow new grass more time to grow.
Maintenance work is complete, and the sod has been replaced. The grass is starting to take hold but will need one more week of heavy watering to be well established.
The dog launch area will stay open in the meantime.
“We are very excited for everyone to see and use the park and the new grass very soon,” District 9 park board representative Maria Hasbany said in a statement.
