The Lakewood couple that started Hari Mari flip-flops a decade ago will launch a clothing line when they open their first store this spring in Knox-Henderson, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The store will open in May at 3213 Knox St. In addition to sturdy, colorful flip-flops that made the brand popular, the store will feature an assortment of men’s and women’s clothing, including shorts, shirts, bathing suits and accessories.
The two-story building has 2,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor, and 1,500 square feet on the second. That level will be used for store events, such as art shows and yoga classes, according to the Morning News.
Co-founders Jeremy and Lila Stewart set out to make a better flip-flop after living abroad in Indonesia. Hari Mari, which means “of the sun” in Indonesian and “of the sea” in Latin, started in their garage and expanded to local and national chains.
The company plans to open up to 10 stores in the next few years. Possible location include Austin and seaside communities in the Florida Panhandle, the Morning News reported.
Hari Mari already has a small store at its headquarters and showroom on Haskell Avenue, and that will remain open to the public.
