It seems a bunch of stir-crazy people have been watching too many Vin Diesel movies while stuck at home because of the coronavirus. Said stir-crazy people then decided to recreate the “Fast and Furious” movies on our streets.
Dallas police were busy writing 224 citations and logging 114 callas in relation to street racing this weekend, according to data.
Twenty-four of the citations were related to a stunt show that closed down the Live Oak and Skillman streets intersection. Crowds cheered as vehicles with screeching tires performed doughnuts and peeled through red lights.
And, no, spectators weren’t following social distancing guidelines or wearing masks.
Neighbor Jeff Auvenshine captured the idiocracy on video while returning home from grocery shopping.
This foolishness just happened in Dallas at Live Oak & Skillman. Blocking all traffic. Part 1. @NBCDFW @FOX4 @wfaa pic.twitter.com/9pR1WNkCAw

Street racing is deadly. In December, an off-duty officer died in a racing crash near White Rock Lake.
Not only that, the noise and the smell of burning rubber isn’t exactly pleasant for neighbors. Check out these comments on Nextdoor.
