Meat dreams really do come true. The pitmaster behind Austin’s famed Franklin Barbecue plans to open a restaurant in Old East Dallas next summer.
Loro debuted in Austin in 2018 and mixes traditional Texas barbecue with Southeast Asian flavors. Menu items include grilled and smoked meats, rice bowls, sandwiches and craft beer.
The Dallas location will be will be reminiscent of historic dance halls in the Texas Hill Country with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Cole and his company, Hai Hospitality, aren’t new to Dallas. The Japanese restaurant Uchi opened in 2015, followed by Uchiba in 2018. However, this is the first time Franklin’s food will appear consistently outside of Austin.
“Dallas has such a diverse food scene,” Franklin said in a statement. “I’m excited to have Loro be a part of it.”
