Guess which East Dallas restaurant Esquire is raving about

Only one Dallas establishment made Esquire’s list of the best new restaurants in America.

And it’s based in East Dallas. (Not that we’re all that surprised, considering five neighborhood eateries were featured in Conde Nast Traveler’s “20 Best Restaurants in Dallas”.)

Haskell Avenue’s Petra and the Beast won over the hearts and stomachs of Esquire staffers, thanks, in part, to chef Misti Norris’ dishes that “seem to writhe with flavor.”

“Consider her fried chicken hearts wrapped in a pale-green garlic crepe, or her pigtails with sour purple cabbage,” Esquire food and drinks editor Jeff Gordinier wrote. “Her background is Cajun, but that doesn’t really help you locate her inspiration. As far as I can tell, her cooking appears to be Narnian.”
