Stonewall Jackson and Lakewood elementary are going head to head all month long in a friendly fundraising battle that will benefit both public schools. They’re competing to get the most receipts at Grub Burger Bar on Greenville at University. Helping the schools is simple, just tell Grub which one you want to support when you place your order. The school that brings in the most diner dollars will earn 20 percent of the total take, while the runner-up will take home 10 percent.

Halcyon marks its grand opening April 6.

What’s better than a new coffee bar? A coffee bar that is actually a bar, complete with unique cocktails, craft beers and, of course, coffee-based adult beverages. Halcyon officially opens its first Dallas location on April 6 at 2900 Greenville Ave, although they’ve opened for limited hours the past few days to get the staff ready for full operation. The Austin-based chain also has locations in San Antonio and California, and carries a menu of salads, sandwiches, wraps and other mostly light bites. Happy hour is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday-Friday. The location used to house Cafe Brazil, which closed its Lower Greenville location abruptly last year.

Speaking of Lower Greenville, have you noticed the flurry of construction at 1931 Greenville? Development consultant Rob Baldwin of Baldwin Associates is working on the project, and says, “We are just permitting what they call a ‘white box.’ No tenant at this time. Once they get one, they will apply for a tenant finish-out permit.” The location used to house EZ Pawn, but the building’s new owner bought out the pawn shop’s lease, and plans to put a boutique on the ground floor with office space on the second level.
