Micciche pushes for required recess at Dallas ISD schools

Dallas ISD Trustee Dan Micciche, who represents East Dallas schools in the Bryan Adams High School feeder pattern, is bringing his concerns about elementary school recess before the board at a briefing this afternoon.

“I am told that some schools provide for recess on a regular basis and some don’t,” Micciche says. “I am also told that recess is sometimes skipped in order to spend more time on academics or test preparation or withheld as a punishment.”

Micciche hopes to make daily recess mandatory at all of the district’s elementary schools. Dallas Morning News has the full story.
