Liz Simmons: Best Christmas lights in the country?

That’s what I hear from neighbor Rosalyn Costanzo, who just sent me an e-mail telling me that the extremely creative and energetic Hollywood/Santa Monica resident has advanced from a local Home Depot  contest to one of the top 20 in the nation.

We featured Simmons’ house at 714 Newell in the December magazine. Her goal this year is 100,000 lights, and neighbors have been trying to help her out with light donations. The big Hollywood/Santa Monica party is tomorrow night, and she hopes to be finished by then.

All she needs to win the Home Depot contest is enough votes to claim the $2,500 prize. And you do have to register, which takes a minute, but come on — think of it as a Christmas gift to the person who has been lighting up our neighborhood for a decade.
