Trex, a company that makes recycled plastics into functional benches and decking, challenges local organizations to collect stretchable plastics — plastic bags, bubble wrap, shipping envelopes and product overwrap with no food residue. LFH neighbors can drop off full trash bags of these soft-film plastics and packaging at 9007 Diceman Drive. Alternatively, homebound residents or those with difficulty dropping off can text the number 214-673-0952 with an address, and a volunteer will pick up the recycling as soon as possible.

The recycling challenge started this month and will end May 31, 2026. The LFH Neighborhood Association aims to collect 1,000 pounds of recyclables so that Trex can use the them to produce at least one bench for the community.
