Caroling. It’s one of those holiday traditions that never seems to get old. This Sunday at 4:30 p.m., St. Matthews Cathedral Arts will not only have caroling but a Christmas narrative with scriptural accounts during this month’s free event, A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.

Relive the classic movie, “A Christmas Story,” when it’s brought to life at the JL Long Elementary theater stage from Thursday, Dec. 15 to to Saturday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. If you bring a toy for the Fine Arts Department Toy Drive you can get free admission to the musical.

Santa and one of his reindeer are coming for a visit and you don’t have to travel far to see them. On Dec. 15 the Greenville Avenue Pizza Company will be hosting the pair who will be available for photos from 4 to 7 p.m. Of course you can always get a $3 Shiner Cheer or Saint Arnold’s Christmas Ale while you’re at it.

If you still need some help getting into the holiday spirit then the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden‘s 12 Days of Christmas display should be on the list. The exhibit, which runs until Jan. 8, follows the well-known song with elaborate setups of pipers piping, swans-a-swimming and a few gold rings. Even more music is coming to the Granada Theater this winter in the form of “Local Honey’s Holiday Mix,” on Sunday, Dec. 18. The band, led by Kelly Brown, brings an eclectic roundup of different artists and a slew of songs. The show starts at 8 p.m. so hurry up and get your tickets at the theater’s website.

When the sun goes down catch Liz Simmons’ amazing light show this Saturday and see what all the hype is about. This year the Electric Lizzyland Christmas light display on Newell promises to be as big and bright as ever. The light show runs through New Year’s Eve. Woodrow Wilson High School‘s show choir has joined up with East Dallas Christian Church for the “Sing We Now of Christmas” concert. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the church.

The holidays just aren’t the same without food. Thankfully, this Sunday the Stephen United Methodist Church is holding a Christmas celebration dinner at 6 p.m. It’s the perfect opportunity to fill your stomach and come together with neighbors.
