Peacemakers at the Dallas Public Library

Founders of the nonprofit called “Today Marks the Beginning” believe young people can change the world, and are inviting the community Friday to a reception at the Dallas Public Library Downtown, second floor, that is sure to inspire.

Through the locally-based group (whose founders include Lakewood Heights resident and Pulitzer prize-winning illustrator Karen Blessen), students learn about forgiveness and peace in the face of calamity via creativity and art. Participating students’ work will be on display at the library through April 30. More than 100 of the young artists, including refugee children now enrolled in Dallas schools, as well as kids from our own neighborhood middle school J.L. Long, will attend a public reception from 10:30 a.m.-noon this Friday, April 24.

Check out the video for a better understanding of the forward-thinking philosophy behind TMtB.
