Tatsu Dallas – One star (high quality cooking)

The Deep Ellum dining spot hosts a variety of seasonal dishes. Meals are served omakase style and include the following: one or two appetizers, anywhere between 13 and 15 pieces of nigiri style sushi, a hand roll, miso soup and dessert.

They offer two seatings, five nights a week — each meal lasting about one hour and 45 minutes.

Tatsu Dallas accepts reservations for parties of one to four and buyouts for up to 10 guests. Reservations are released on the first and 15th of each month at 8:00 a.m.

Hours of operation:  Two seatings a day at 5:30 p.m. and at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday.

Gemma – Bib Gourmand (good quality, good value cooking)

The Henderson Avenue restaurant is a self-proclaimed neighborhood bistro with a menu that champions comfort food inspired by France and Italy. Between the bar, the dining room and the patio, guests can explore the menu that features classic bistro options, a “butcher’s corner,” and plats du jour.

Hours of operation: Tuesday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Rye – Recommended restaurant (good cooking) and Exceptional Cocktails Award 

The Greenville Avenue restaurant features American small plates and a cocktail bar. They have locally sourced, rotating menu items as well as a sizable selection of whiskey.

While they do reserve tables for walk-in guests, reservations are encouraged. They also cater both food and cocktails and offer the option to book out the restaurant for private parties.

Hours of operation: Tuesday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. 

Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen –  Bib Gourmand (good quality, good value cooking)

The women-led and women-owned restaurant is also on Greenville Avenue and aims to redefine the standard Vietnamese dining experience by taking inspiration from street vendors in Vietnam and home cooking from the owner’s upbringing in Ha Noi.

The menu features dried-noodles, noodles with broth, a variety of rice dishes and Vietnamese curry. 

Hours of operation: Monday – Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

Mot Hai Ba – Bib Gourmand (good quality, good value cooking)

Just off of Skillman Street, the Lakewood eatery is known for its serving of French Vietnamese cuisine. They offer seasonal dishes and cocktails on a regularly-changing menu.

The casual dining experience includes a full bar and both to-go and delivery options, for those who may opt out of dining in their front room or restaurant patio.

Hours of operation: Tuesday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sunday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Quarter Acre – Recommended restaurant (good cooking) 

Just at the intersection of a neighborhood restaurant and an upscale dining experience is Quarter Acre, the third restaurant on Greenville to make it into the guide.

Inspired by the owner and chef’s world travels, as well as his New Zealand origin, the menu has several seafood and meat dishes like the aussie sea bass En papillote and the seared duck breast.

Complimentary valet parking is available on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hours of operation: Tuesday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
