Neighbors know that Bryan Adams High School band students performed at Richard Nixon’s inauguration in 1973.
That was a significant moment in the school’s history, to be sure. But have you ever wondered what attending the school was like on a normal day?
Thanks to the WFAA Collection, part of the G. William Jones Film and Video Collection at SMU, we get a glimpse into a typical day at the East Dallas high school.
In a short video shot in September 1976, reporters recorded students in class, hanging out around campus and studying in the library. For the most part, the audio is just natural sound, but there is a quote from one of the students.
“I’d like to sleep a lot longer, and I dread driving up Peavy to come here, but I really enjoy it,” he says.
