A J.L. Long student tied for third place in his age range in an annual student art contest organized by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
Malak Albarghuthi, an eighth-grader at Long, was recognized in the sixth- to eighth-grade category for his piece that says, “Paint the town extraordinary. Ride DART” surrounded by colorful Dallas cityscapes.
Each year, the DART Student Art Contest challenges North Texas students in all grade levels to illustrate an annual theme. This year, artists had to fill in the blank: “Paint the town ____. Ride DART.”
More than 150 schools and organizations submitted nearly 1,200 art entries.
