Two gunmen shot a 20-year-old man in the buttocks Monday before robbing him of cash and property at his East Dallas apartment, police said.

Officers responded at 9:40 a.m. to the shooting at an apartment in the 2700 block of Gaston Avenue.

The victim and two witnesses were inside the apartment when a woman they knew knocked on the door, ABC affiliate WFAA reported. When the victim opened the door, two armed men entered and started beating him with a handgun.

The gunmen shot the victim in the buttocks multiple times, then took cash and property, according to the station.

First responders took the injured man to an area hospital for treatment.
