In celebration of National Taco Day, we rounded up some of the best taco places in the neighborhood. There’s something in East Dallas for everyone — except, possibly, Taco Truck Tammy.

The adventurer: Chicken tikka, shrimp ’n’ grits, Nashville hot chicken, fish and chips, chicken and waffles, Monte Cristo. Velvet Taco chef Grant Morgan proves any dish can be turned into a taco.

The diner on a budget: Tacos la Banqueta on Gaston Avenue serves traditional street tacos served in a flour tortilla for about $1.50.

The exotic eater: When Tacos Mariachi opened on Greenville Avenue in December 2018, it made a splash with unusual menus items, such as octopus tacos and mole fries.

The music lover: Digg’s is a Tex-Mex taqueria that’s proud of its “loud taste.” The location has a quality sound systems that churns out a constant stream of acoustic tunes.
