Fans of Veracruz Café in Dallas’ Bishop Arts District will find attentive service and authentic recipes closer to home now that co-owners have opened Emilio’s Mexican Kitchen in Timber Creek shopping center.
Emilio’s, which opened Aug. 22, is located in the former Dickey’s Barbecue spot at Skillman and Northwest Highway.
Co-owner Emilio Mata greets visitors at the door and invites patrons to enjoy a flavored margarita at the bar or choose a table or booth.
Seafood dishes like Camarones a la Diabla and Pescado Empanizado are featured, but traditional Tex-Mex dishes including fajitas, tacos and enchiladas dot the menu. Salads and soups, like their signature Sopa del Mar with shrimp, fish, vegetables and spices, are among the many choices, and dessert options include sopapillas, tres leches cake and fried plantains. A reduced-price lunch menu is available on weekdays.

Emilio’s, located at 6243 Retail Road, Suite 400, is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
