Goodfriend reopens Tuesday after kitchen fire

East Dallas sandwich shop Goodfriend Package is opening again Tuesday after a kitchen fire forced the shop to close Monday.

Co-owner Josh Yingling, who also co-owns Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House across the street, received a call at 5:45 a.m. regarding the fire. The fire occurred under the shop’s flat top, a device used to warm food served at the restaurant,  Yingling told GuideLive.

Workers were able to stop the blaze without fire extinguishers, and no one was injured.

The eatery’s next-door neighbor, Cultivar Coffee, was unaffected by the fire and remained open Monday.

Goodfriend Package is located at 1155 Peavy Road.
