Off-duty officer shoots, injures knife-wielder at East Dallas gas station

An off-duty police officer shot and injured a man who is accused of chasing another person with a “bladed weapon” near an East Dallas gas station, authorities said.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the officer was pumping gas at the 7-Eleven at 111 N. Carroll Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he saw the attacker running toward another man with a weapon.

The officer, who has worked at the department for four years, shot the man multiple times, the newspaper reported. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Authorities have not released the attacker’s name. He is expected to be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Morning News.
