What friendship between a reverend and a rabbi can teach us about the holiday season

Remember that time we interviewed a reverend and a rabbi?

In 2010, the Rev. George Mason, senior pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church, and Rabbi David Stern, senior rabbi at Temple Emanu-El, told us how they became such good friends despite their theological differences.

(Christians and Jews are divided by a common person. Spoiler alert: It’s Jesus.)

Both men have led their congregations through differing religious holidays this month, and their example of interfaith dialogue is an example of the values we celebrate at Christmas and Hanukkah.
