East Dallas’ Erykah Badu now has her own Tiny Desk Concert

White Rock neighbor Erykah Badu made her way to the Tiny Desk Concert stage this week. Her visit to NPR and All Songs Considered included a full band with upright bass, saxophone, trumpet and flute.

Complete with dreadlocked pigtails, pink eye shadow and purple lipstick, she represented funky East Dallas well. The Grammy winning soul artist/actress/mother/certified doula played several songs, including “Rimshot” and “Green Eyes.”

She also sat down for an interview with NPR, where she discussed her five doctor per day schedule, her desire to try stand-up comedy, her work as a doula and much more.

Check out the concert here and the interview here.
