Fireworks, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, rugby and fitness expo this Memorial Day weekend in East Dallas

On Friday night, Heart Byrne (Talking Heads tribute band) and Depeshi (Depeche Mode tribute band) will be performing at the Granada Theater at 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $18 the day of the show.

There will be a fitness expo at the Skillman Church of Christ on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Information, merchandise and exhibits will focus on fitness, nutrition and recovery. Free massages, shoe fitting, nutritional guidance and prizes will all be part of the event.

At 12 p.m. Saturday, the Dallas Harlequins rugby team will take on Welsh squad Rumney Rugby Football Club at Glencoe Park. The match is free to the public.

Dallas’ best bike shop/concert venue is Transit Cycle Co., and they are hosting Texas bands Holy Wave and Native Fox at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Tickets are $10, and one dollar of each ticket will be donated to Resource Center.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is honoring military veterans and first responders with its annual free concert at Flag Pole Hill. They will patriotic tunes that are fun for the family. The concert is Monday at 8:15 p.m. and will be followed by a firework display.

Active duty members and veterans of the military and first responders get into the Dallas Arboretum for free this weekend with a valid photo ID. There will be live music all weekend on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. Memorial Day will include $2 hot dogs and root beer floats at the Terrace Cafe.
