The Woodrow Wildcat swim teams added to the trophy case at the end of 2017. The girls’ team finished first and the boys’ second in the district meet.

The girls team won their third straight district championship in December. In the girls 50m freestyle race, Woodrow claimed first through fifth place, swept first through fourth in the 100m freestyle and first through third in the 500m freestyle.

The boys team finished third and sixth in the 100m freestyle, second and fifth in the 200m freestyle and second, third and fifth in the 500m freestyle.

Captains Annabelle Furrh, Claire Gustafson, Javier Herrera, Adam Becker and Thomas Farner and the rest of the team are coached by Brook Varner and Caitlin Knoll. They will compete in the regional competition on Jan. 19.

The football team continued to stack up accolades, but this time they were recognized for their impact off the field. John Keeter and Travis West were named to the Texas High School Academic All-State First Team, and Cade Fennegan (who we profiled in November) made the second team.
