#FBF: When Mother Nature froze out the Dallas Marathon

Some neighbors take full advantage of the fact that they can cheer for the Dallas Marathon from their front yards, while others lament the wall of runners between them and their morning coffee.

This Sunday will be the newest iteration of the 26-mile adventure, but last night’s snowstorms dusting Austin and San Antonio call to mind 2013’s race, which was canceled when the neighborhood froze over.

The Advocate photographer tasked with shooting the 2013 marathon was not so easily dissuaded, and captured the marathon route in all its wintry wonder, sans runners. Check out the stunning photo essay here.

While that race haunts the memories of Dallas’ cardiophiles, Sunday’s race looks to start out chilly but end up as a great day for running.
