#FBF Dwell With Dignity allows neighbors to do just that

Volunteers help at Interfaith Housing Coalition.

Fall has finally arrived, which means it is home tour season in East Dallas. Neighbors will have numerous chances over the next few months to take in our neighborhood’s architectural achievements.

While seeing the time, money and energy put into these homes can be inspiring, not everyone has the resources to create a well-designed and comfortable living space, which isn’t a cheap process.

Fortunately, Lakewood’s Lisa Robinson created an organization called Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit made up of volunteer contractors, designers, seamstresses, artists, craftsmen and retailers who use their skills to furnish Dallas-area apartments for qualified families seeking to escape homelessness and poverty.

Dwell with Dignity works closely with Interfaith Housing Coalition in East Dallas, helping design and provide for families experiencing homelessness while they work towards independence. The Advocate wrote about the founding of the organization in 2009. Read the full story here.
