Kindred Hospital at White Rock is closing

Kindred Hospital White Rock, which shares the space with Baylor, Scott and White Medical Center at White Rock near Garland and Buckner in East Dallas, will close by Sept. 17.

In a press release, the hospital says it is closing to consolidate services to one of its several hospitals in the Dallas area. New admissions have stopped at the facility, which provides long-term acute care for area residents. The hospital’s website says it cares “for difficult to treat, chronically, critically ill patients who require specialized and aggressive goal-directed care over an extended recovery period.”

The facility says it will make sure all current patients are relocated, and that expenses will be covered. The Dallas Morning News reports that 79 staffers will be affected, but that more than half of those workers will be placed at other Kindred locations, according to Jeffrey Cullucci, divisional vice president of Kindred Healthcare.
