The clock restorers who is, well, restoring the Lakewood Shopping Center clock says the clock is on its way to being returned to its spot above Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen.

The update goes as follows: currently, the clock is keeping fairly accurate time and, while there is “some wear in the shaft bushings,” it’s expected to be fine for a few more years.

There was also an issue with the collectors (the devices that carry the electricity out to the hands to power the neon) but the restorer wrote it does seem to be resolved. The paint job on the hands will be finished Saturday before they are then taken to Neon of Dallas Monday to install the neon tubes.

“It has taken me a little longer to get to this point than I had planned,” the restorer writes. “Consequently, I hope to reinstall the clock sometime the week after Christmas.”
