Old East Dallas restaurant owner not expected to live after this weekend’s shooting

Victoria Polanco, the owner of a Latin American restaurant Pupuseria Victoria at 515 N. Carroll in Old East Dallas, was shot in the head Friday night during a robbery. Police announced yesterday that Polanco is still alive, but not expected to pull through. The 51-year-old was shot just before midnight on Friday.

The shooter remains at large, and there is no suspect in the shooting.

Polanco was a popular presence in the neighborhood. Noe Montiel works next door to Polanco’s restaurant. He says she would visit the barber shop often and usually brought food. “She was like the mother of the barber shop,” he says in a WFAA story. “The barber shop ain’t the same without her no more.”
