Sneak peek: Pluckers on Upper Greenville to re-open today

A large truck boasting the Ben E. Keith logo parked in front of Pluckers on Upper Greenville this morning. Inside, a cluster of employees huddled near the kitchen for a quick pep talk before the day.

Dallas’ first Pluckers location, which has been in business for 15 years, is re-opening today at 11 a.m. after more than four months of construction.

Neighbors won’t recognize the new space; it has more than doubled in size, and over the last several months it was completely gutted and revamped. And bonus, there’s now a 6,000-square-foot patio/beer garden.

“The dining room is bigger than the whole original location,” says general manager Melissa Moody. “It has an extra 25 tables and just more seating in general. Total capacity went from 100 to 300. And we went from five tables outside [on the patio] to 27. It’s definitely drastic.”

There are now 48 TVs inside and 12 TVs on the patio — more than twice as many as before.

“It’s an upgrade all around,” Moody says, and adds that regulars will appreciate the new bathrooms.

“People who come here all the time are super excited about the new bathroom stalls,” she says. “The original bathrooms only had one stall for men and one for women because when we started 15 years ago we weren’t what we are now.”

They’ve doubled the staff size, and the other half is coming back from other locations where they have been temporarily working during construction, Moody says.

“It’s up-to-date now with our other stores,” says Sonny Contreras, the regional general manager trainer. “So essentially, with the remodel, it replicates the new locations that we open.”
