This weekend: Santa at Half Price Books, Christmas choral music or a night of dancing

This is the last week to see Santa Claus at the flagship Half Price Books on Northwest Highway. (The same Santa we wrote about in the December magazine last year.) In keeping with Christmastime traditions, Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick will be making appearances through Dec. 20. Go to the website for dates and times. Bring the whole family or the pup for a snapshot with Santa. Also, any food donations will benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

Through Dec. 19, One Thirty Productions presents “Romance in D,” a comedy about two apartments, two romances and two holidays. Bath House Cultural Center is at 521 E. Lawther. Call 214.670.8749 or go to bathhousecultural.com for more. Tickets are $12-$16.

On Dec. 19, join a night of American folk dancing at First United Lutheran Church, 6202 E. Mockingbird Lane. No experience or partners necessary. A beginner’s lesson starts at 8 p.m. Call 214.821.5929 or go to dallaslutheran.org for more. Entrance is $3-$10.

Also on Dec. 19, the Orpheus Chamber Singers perform holiday music inside the 1940s neogothic church, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 6306 Kenwood. Go to orpheuschambersingers.org or call 214.821.3360 for more. Tickets are $10-$40.

Running through Dec. 30 is “Miracle on 34th Street” at Dallas Children’s Theater. The play by Valentine Davies is based on the classic 1947 holiday film. Dallas Children’s Theater is at 5938 Skillman. Go to dct.org or call 214.978.0110 for more. Tickets are $15-$28.

Through Jan. 30, Bath House Cultural Center is hosting “Frida Kahlo: La Flor de la Vida (The Flower of Life),” an art exhibition that draws inspiration from the influential Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The Bath House is located at 521 E Lawther. Go to the website for more. The exhibit is free.

Dog Elfie StandThe Shops at Park Lane has a holiday-themed photo opportunity. Until Dec. 30, throughout the shopping center you can find several adult, child
and pooch-friendly sized “elfie selfie” stands. Plus a photo opportunity in the community park as the “I” inside the middle of a giant candy striped “B & G” display, in support of the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau’s ‘BIG Things Happen Here’ campaign. To be entered to win $500, share your photo on social media using the hashtag #SelfieWithAnElfie or upload a photo by visiting the ‘Selfie With An Elfie’ tab on The Shops at Park Lane Facebook page, where you can also vote for your favorite. The photo with the most votes will receive a $500 gift card to The Shops at Park Lane.
